HINLIM prepares the Commercial Invoice, Bill of Lading, Packing List, and Certificate of Origin for every shipment, along with a Fumigation Certificate for wood-based products travelling by sea. Your customs broker uses this documentation to clear the shipment with TRA.

Furniture imports into Tanzania are subject to import duty under the East African Community (EAC) Common External Tariff framework, along with VAT and other applicable levies assessed by the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA). Because duty rates and levies are subject to periodic revision, we recommend confirming the current applicable figures with HINLIM's export team or your customs broker before finalising landed-cost calculations for your order.

Duty and taxes are calculated on the customs (CIF) value of the shipment — cost, insurance, and freight combined — with VAT and the Railway Development Levy then applied on top of the duty-inclusive value. HINLIM's export documentation (commercial invoice, certificate of origin) gives your customs broker the figures needed to calculate the exact landed cost for your specific order.

Duty rates are set by Tanzania's EAC Common External Tariff framework and apply uniformly regardless of order size — HINLIM does not control or influence duty rates. Bulk orders help indirectly: consolidating a full container reduces the shipping cost per unit, which offsets some of the overall landed-cost impact of applicable import duty. Ask your customs broker whether any EAC-treaty-based preferential provisions apply to your specific product categories.
